Youth Action @ Hyndburn receives £500 grant from Duchy of Lancaster

Youth Action @ Hyndburn has received a £500 grant towards their SNAP project from the Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund.

SNAP (Special Needs Education Project) is a youth club that caters for children and young people with special needs ages 8-25. Members meet every Friday night for up to two hours and take part in activities such as team games, trampolining, table tennis and much more. Occasionally, professional coaches are brought in to deliver alternative activities to the group such as cheerleading and keep fit. SNAP also regularly hold presentation evenings, discos and parties with party games and food. This project is based in Accrington and members live in the Hyndburn area.

The outcomes of this project are that children and young people with special needs have a place to go to enjoy leisure time outside of their normal environment, in a safe place under the supervision of qualified staff and parent volunteers. SNAP activities are delivered by two workers who plan and run the sessions each week and supported by volunteers parents/carers

Youth Action @ Hyndburn is seeking funding for SNAP in order that the project can continue to provide activities for young people with special needs.

The Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund has contributed £500 towards the SNAP project, which will go towards paying for additional training for volunteers and staff, amongst other things.

The fund is used to make small grants to associations and organisations in, or with connections to, the County Palatine. The Duchy of Lancaster recognised SNAP as a worthwhile and valuable project to young people with special needs in Hyndburn and contributed a £500 grant to it.

Youth Action @ Hyndburn is seeking total funding of £3742 towards SNAP and welcomes donations.
